The Food Hub will house a central kitchen to provide prepared meals for the Prairie Five Meals program and a new larger client choice food shelf for the Prairie Five Chippewa County Food Shelf. The Prairie Five Meals program provides meals to eligible households throughout the counties of Big Stone, Chippewa, Lac qui Parle, Swift and Yellow Medicine. A centralized kitchen creates a more efficient program. The Prairie Five Chippewa County Food Shelf is open to anyone in need and provides food rescue and fresh food options. A new location for the food shelf will provide an enhanced shopping experience. This will result in a better client experience and less food waste.
