Prairie Five Meals

The Prairie Five Meals Program serves 36 communities with Congregate Dining, and Home Delivered and Frozen Meals.  Frozen Meals are available for weekends, holidays, emergency, and rural delivery.  The Program promotes health and independent living in the senior population through improved nutrition and reduction of social isolation.

Volunteers are the core of the Prairie Five Meals Program.  The Program could not operate without the volunteers that provide volunteer hours in numerous different capacities.  Communities in the five counties also provide continuing support for the Prairie Five Meals Program and its participants.

To sign up for the Prairie Five Meals program, please contact the Montevideo Central Kitchen: 320-269-9009.

Prairie Five Meals provides hot and frozen meals to older adults that allow them to feel secure and independent in their own homes. Currently, government funding for this program is not keeping up with demand and a waitlist to receive meals may be implemented.

Please consider partnering with us by donating to Prairie Five Meals. Your donation will make a great impact on the lives of the older adults we serve.

Available to All Ages

Older Adults (age 60+) and their spouse who have fully completed a participant intake form have a right to a meal based on their ability to donate.

The suggested donation rate is $5.00.

For guests under 60 years of age, the rate is $12.14 (CM) / $12.40 (HDM).

EBT Benefits (SNAP/Food Stamps) Accepted.

Children under 12 years of age pay $6.00 and receive 1/2 portions.

Participant donations account for over 50% of the total operating budget for the Program.
