Food Programs
Prairie Five Food Shelves
We are grateful for the continued support that we receive from individuals, farmers, businesses, churches, civic and school groups. 100% of the proceeds that we raise by product, food, cash or check go back to the people in our counties. It is because of your support we are able to keep our shelves full and ready to help families through economic stress.
With a tax-deductible donation of $300, you can supply a family of four with a 3-day emergency supply of food once a month FOR A YEAR! This is equivalent to $25 a month. Your donation is a blessing to a family in need.
If you have a food emergency, our food shelf hours are listed below. Households are asked to use the food shelf only one time per month, and they will receive a three-day supply of food. As we receives federal food assistance, the MN Department of Children, Youth & Families (DCYF) requires individuals to complete registration annually, supplying their name, number of people in the household & their ages, and also to self-declare their need for assistance.
If you have any questions, please contact us at (320)269-6578.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is a county-run, state-supervised Federal program that helps Minnesotans with low incomes get the food they need for sound nutrition and well-balanced meals. The program issues electronic food support benefits that can help stretch your household food budget.
Program Requirements:
SNAP eligibility depends on your household’s income. Households with an income at or below 165 percent of the Federal poverty level will not have an asset limit. County human services agencies accept client applications, determine eligibility and determine benefit levels in accordance with state and Federal regulations. SNAP is available in all 87 Minnesota counties.
Application Process:
To apply for SNAP, contact your county human services agency or call our office at 320-269-6578 for more information.
You may also call the hotline at 651-431-4050 in the Twin Cities metro area or 1-800-657-3698 outside the metro area to find out what county you live in and where to apply for SNAP. For Teletypewriter (TTY) service, call the Minnesota Relay at 711 or 1-800-627-3529.
